Cartoonist Rod R. Driver was born in 1997. He has always lived in Seattle, USA, except for a brief stint in Portland, Oregon, where he got his bachelors in studio art from Reed College and made zines galore in the nonfiction, graphic journalism, fandom, and autobio genres.
After graduation, Rod received a competitive Thomas J. Watson fellowship to study global comics communities. Articles about Indonesian showcases at the Frankfurt and London book fairs inspired him to visit, and he came to love Yogyakarta. He wrote his 2024 book, Komik-Komik Sama-Sama, about Indonesian art collectives and the transformative power of making art together. He is very grateful to the many artists and researchers who he interviewed for this project.
Previously he wrote Up the Columbia!, a 50 page graphic history of the Columbia River dams, and Doukhobor Comics, a history of a Russian-Ukrainian-Canadian Christian Anarchist pacifist sect.
He hawks his comics at local zine fairs, assorted comic shops (mostly in Seattle and Portland), and online on Kofi. His distributors are Emerald Comics and Radiator Comics.
He can be found on Instagram or via email.
